Sports legends and Hollywood icons converged on a glittering red carpet Friday in Beverly Hills to mark the 25th anniversary of the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation, an organization that raises funds and awareness for the treatment and cure of cancer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The milestone gala honored Major League Baseball great Barry Bonds, National Hockey League Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, director Spike Lee and others, who spoke about their personal connections to the cause and the need to accelerate funding for lifesaving care.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“It has touched us all,” said Bonds, whose father, former MLB player Bobby Lee Bonds Sr., passed away from lung cancer in 2003.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Basketball great Earvin “Magic” Johnson surprised many by making a guest appearance and said he was thrilled to see so many friends helping out for a good cause.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“These are Hall of Fame dudes. So it’s a blessing to be on the red carpet with them, but also to call them my friends. Because, see, my era, we’re all friends. We all hang out. And so that’s what’s so special about now, we see each other. It’s like a family reunion,” he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Harold & Carole Pump Foundation, founded by twin brothers Dana and David Pump in honor of their father, who died of cancer in 2000, and their mother who passed in 2012, has directed more than $13.3 million to Northridge Hospital initiatives including the Carole Pump Women’s Center, the Harold and Carole Pump Department of Radiation Oncology, the Leavey Cancer Center, and other community charities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
